RENEWAL LEADERS PLEADED FOR THE NATION

PRAYER FOR NATIONAL HEALING AND FORGIVENESS: "Heal our Land Oh Lord"

More than 400 leaders of the Charismatic Renewal gathered at Ubulu-Uku to have a full day prayer Session for the Nation, especially at this critical moment. The scheduled prayer rally started with an opening mass on friday evening. Present in attendance were the Chaplains, NEC (National Executive Council) and NST (National Service Team) Officials, Provincial and Diocesan Executives, and two ministry leaders representing their respective ministries.Saturday session started with the opening mass celebrated by Fr. Opara. In his homily,he enjoined charismatics to imbibe the culture of Sharing (in contrast to greed) and stress the need for us as individuals to realize our faults and repent of our sins. After the mass, Bro. Tukura and Bro. Uche Manu led the prayer session.

During this rally, a time was set aside to interceed before God with regards to Boko Haram Attacks in the Northern part of the country, Bro. Paul, from Abuja Province, pointed out the fact that all the anomalies we witness presently in Nigeria are the consequences of our sins, as individuals and as a nation. He said, "our sins has began to follow us in this land -- our sins and evil ways....our land has soaked so many bloods and keep soaking bloods on daily basis". This awareness led to outburst of prayers, amidst tears, for the souls of the innocent Nigerians who have met their untimely death amidst various crisises in our beloved country -Nigeria.

Some of our brethren who came from the North shared their testimonies of God's interference and intervention in protecting his people amidst the Boko Haram crisis. They told us stories about Boko Haram's failed attempts to bomb Christains and churches in the North. They also enjoined us to pray for countless number of Christains, old and young, who met their untimely death during the bomb blast incident which occurred at the Police force head quarter and The UN Building at Abuja respectively.

They rally extended to Saturday night with a vigil mass and special prayer sessions where we presented the following intentions before God: Divine Consolation for families who lost their loved ones during all various attacks launched against the Christains and Southerners in the North; Divine Protection for our Individual Families and the Charismatic Family; For the forth-coming National Conference, and for the Catholic Church in Nigeria.
